ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are considering signing free agent RB Terry Kirby (Raiders).
Updating previous reports, ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports the Carolina Panthers have told WR Muhsin Muhammad that he will not be a post-June 1 salary cap release. The team has not asked him to rework his contract as of yet.
Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson reports the Cincinnati Bengals acquisition of veteran QB Shane Matthews leaves questions as to whether or not QB Akili Smith will remain with the team or not. The team has remained mum on what they’ll do with Smith, but they could drop his salary cap hit to $1.8 million if they release him after June 1. Smith’s agent, Kennard McGuire, said if the Bengals were to sign a QB they targeted than he expected a quick release for his client.
According to KCChiefs.com, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders decided to move WR Johnnie Morton from the “Z” slot to the “X” slot in the team’s offensive scheme. Chiefs WR Eddie Kennison will replace Morton at the “Z” slot. WR Morton has shown flashes of his old self during practice sessions recently and appears more comfortable in the offense.
BaltimoreRavens.com reports the Baltimore Ravens have signed rookie PK Derrick Frost (Northern Iowa). No Terms of the deal were disclosed.
Updating previous reports, the Detroit Free Press reports Detroit Lions rookie WR Charles Rogers (hamstring) practiced Thursday but held back late in the session to rest a hamstring that had tightened Wednesday.

Kyle Boller - QB, Baltimore Ravens May 30, 11:53 a.m.
Head coach Brian Billick can't stop raving about Boller. Billick was impressed with Boller at a minicamp, and came away even more impressive after a recent passing camp. Maybe Boller is the real deal, but the jury is still out. The last time Billick got this excited about a quarterback was Stoney Case in 1999, and he lasted only a few games as the starter. Quentin Griffin - RB, Denver Broncos May 29, 3:12 p.m.
The next player in the line of Broncos backs who come out of nowhere to become 1,000-yard rushers could be Griffin, a rookie from Oklahoma. The highly productive college player slipped to the fourth round because he’s only 5-7, 195 pounds. But that doesn’t bother the Broncos because 2002 offensive rookie of the year Clinton Portis also weighs about 195. What’s more important is Griffin has the timing and patience required in the Denver ground game. After the Broncos’ recent minicamp, Griffin’s quickness was the talk of the locker room. Portis is unhappy with his contract, but expected to show up for training camp. But if he doesn’t, the Broncos have an option. (Dan Pompei/TSN)
Fantasy Spin: Watch this situation during training camp. Griffin or Mike Anderson could be valuable as Portis' backup, but we won't know that situation -- or the deal with Portis' contract -- until this summer.

The agent for quarterback Brian Griese said he expects the Denver Broncos to move quickly to release their former starter, but it might take some time before Griese finds a new home.
Ralph Cindrich, who represents Griese, said he thought it would be difficult for the Dolphins or any team to quickly sign Griese. He is expected to be released Monday, the first day the Broncos can cut him and avoid severe salary-cap problems.
The Dolphins privately hope to have Griese signed by Tuesday, when they begin the third of the four offseason quarterback schools.
''I don't know that that would fit in the parameters of what is best for Brian,'' said Cindrich, who has received interest from several teams, including Miami, Seattle and Arizona. ``That would be nice, and anything is possible, but that's awfully quick. . . . We're going to sit back and listen to everybody.''
Cindrich said he doubted Griese would be interested in signing a multiyear contract, unless he were given a large deal and the assurance of a starting job.
''At this juncture, getting into a long-term deal could be a deal-breaker,'' Cindrich said.
Griese and Cindrich hope that if Griese can become a free agent again next offseason, he might be able to sign a more lucrative contract.
''Brian has some pretty nice numbers over his career, and I think those are worth something,'' Cindrich said.
A multiyear deal probably won't be a hang-up for the Dolphins. If the team signs Griese to a deal beyond next season, it likely would be for salary-cap reasons and would have built-in clauses that would allow Griese to be a free agent.
