The Boston Globe reports the New England Patriots will most likely not try to re-sign FB Marc Edwards. He has not received a contract proposal since mid-season, but rejected that offer. Edwards is looking to be paid among the elite FBs in the league, which would pay him close to $1.2 million to $1.6 million per year. The Patriots are unlikely to offer him that much money.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Colts DE Chad Bratzke restructured his contract and will save the team about $2.3 million against the salary cap. He agreed to lower his base salary from $4.25 million to $655,000 and forego a $1 million roster bonus due March 3. He’ll receive a $4.595 million signing bonus at a later date. His original cap hit of $7.734 million is lowered to $5.437 million.

The Indianapolis Star reports Indianapolis Colts PK Mike Vanderjagt met with head coach Tony Dungy and team president Bill Polian. In a statement from the team, they stated that Vanderjagt expressed desire to remain with the team and assured them he’ll do whatever Dungy feels is necessary to contribute to the team. He also expressed regret at having spoken as he did about the team. The issue is now viewed as behind them.

Bush: Restructure Or Be Released
The Kansas City Star reports the Kansas City Chiefs will ask LB Lew Bush to restructure his contract to a fraction of his schedule $2.5 million salary he is set to earn in 2003. If he does not agree, he will be released.

Derrick Alexander - WR, Minnesota Vikings Feb. 16, 6:18 p.m.
The Vikings aren't completely decided on cutting Alexander, although it might eventually work out that way. Alexander was a disaster in the first year of a $5.1 million contract last season. He played uninspired and lackluster and ended up losing his starting job before blowing out his knee midway through the season. If Alexander can regain the necessary passion in the minicamps, the Vikings are not opposed to keeping him around as a No. 3 receiver. The Colts still aren’t certain if Ismail will be able to return for the 2003 season. He suffered a bulging disc in his neck Dec. 22 against the Giants and finished the season on injured reserve. Ismail is seeking medical advice and is confident he can play next season. The two-time league rushing champion was productive last season -- 989 yards in 14 games -- but still wasn't fully recovered from reconstructive surgery on his left knee. He also battled a pair of high ankle sprains and sore ribs. The plan is for James to take full advantage of the offseason and rest.
