The Associated Press reports the Buffalo Bills have sent out a strong message to TE Jay Riemersma: rework your deal or be released. “He would have no chance to be here under his current numbers,” said team president Tom Donahoe. “It’s not a question of ability. It’s really more a question of economics.” Riemersma is set to earn $3.5 million in the last year of his contract, and it is uncertain whether he would be willing to restructure. Donahoe said he has not had any recent discussions with Riemersma or his agent Jack Wirth.

Flutie agreed to reduce his 2003 base salary from $4.5 million to $655,000, all of which is guaranteed. His salary cap hit will drop $3 million from $5.26 million to $2.26 million. He is due a $500,000 roster bonus on March 17 and another $345,000 bonus if he is on the roster Sept. 7.
